Welcome to the website of Kingston Maurward Croquet Club.
We are a small, friendly club located in the grounds of Kingston Maurward College, just outside Dorchester in Dorset.
We have one large and one small (half size) lawns which are maintained by the college staff.
We play Golf and Association croquet seven days a week from April until October each year.
For more details, including membership, please click on the menu items above.
We are in the grounds of Kingston Maurward Agricultural College.
Follow signs to the Visitors Centre Car Park, go to reception and ask for The Croquet Lawns.
Please click on the link above for a diagram of directions from A35.
Lawns are open 10:00am - 7:00pm seven days per week except Monday (which is 2:00pm - 7:00pm only) as lawns are maintained Monday am.
Wednesday is Golf Croquet club day and
Thursday is Association Croquet Club day.
On these days there is a good chance of a game if members just turn up at 10:00am or 2:00pm.
Either style of croquet can be played on other days but you may want to contact another member beforehand to be sure to get a game.
Please access the lawns through the Car Park and Visitors Centre of Kingston Maurward Gardens and Animal Park.
There are signs to Kingston Maurward Visitors Centre from the A35 roundabout on the Dorchester Bypass.
Members can bring guests to play at KMCC for a fee of £4 per person per day. The fee includes use of club equipment.
If visitors do not know a member then please contact us with details when you would like to play and we will try to find a member to act as host.
KMCC welcome friendly matches (GC or AC) with other croquet clubs.
Please contact our secretary Alwin Greder for details.
GC Level play team fell at a crucial game to the SWF final. After winning all matches in the season they narrowly lost 9.5 - 10.5 to division leaders Taunton Deane, who were also without loss. Taunton Deane will probably go to East Dorset for the final against Bristol in Sept.
GC friendlies continue to be popular with extra matches being booked in Sept. These are a good way to get match experience without the pressure. Check Teams page for more details.
Two KMCC Members Michelle Leonard and Judy Foxwell won the Dorset WI County Croquet Tournament, well done!
Steve Leonard has won the Sussex A-Level Tournament winning eight games and the final 7-6. Retirement seems to be going well then.
Jonathan Powe played for England in the GC Home International Tournament against Scotland, Wales, and Ireland. He won all but one game , (and that was a golden hoop!), and England won the tournament. Well done JP!!.
Captain Jonathan Powe helped Dorset win Division Two of the AC Inter-County championships.Good luck in Division One next year.
and finally... JP has been chosen as one of eight players to go to Egypt for the Over 50's GC World Championship.
I'm not sure he wants to be reminded of that one.
